Theatre Americana will launch its 56th season with a benefit performance to help raise funds for an Altadena Town Hall.
“On a Darkling Plain,” a new play by New York playwright Norman Beim, will open Friday in the William Davies Building at Farnsworth Park. The play, set during the McCarthy Era, stars Altadena resident George Roegler as a blacklisted actor.
Other performances are scheduled for Saturday and Nov. 16, 17 and 30, and Dec. 7 and 8. All shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. For information, call (818) 397-1740.
All proceeds will be donated to the Town Hall Project. Admission is $6.50 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and students and $4 for children.
Most of the theater group’s members are senior citizen residents of Altadena and several of the troupe are alumni of the now-closed Pasadena Playhouse acting school.
