HOUSTON — An attorney began serving a 180-day contempt of court jail term today for a courtroom tirade in which he called a judge “a little Jew.”
During a 15-minute plea for relief Monday, Jack Love denied he is anti-Semitic but failed to win sympathy from a state judge who earlier sentenced him to the maximum term.
District Judge Mike McSpadden decried the “hateful, obscene remarks” that provoked the contempt finding. McSpadden also said he will ask the State Bar of Texas to disbar Love over the incident in county Court-at-Law Judge Sherman Ross’ court.
After a dispute with Ross about a case, Love told a clerk he was going “to get that little Jew. He does not know this, but tonight I will burn a cross in his yard.”
