PRO FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Henley Expected to Be Activated
- Share via
Cornerback Darryl Henley, who has missed the entire season because of a hip injury, will be activated this week. Henley’s 1990 debut will be with the nickel defense against the Houston Oilers, the league’s most prolific passing team.
After an impressive rookie season in 1989, Henley was scheduled to start at cornerback this year. Then he was sidelined by an unusual injury when a muscle tore loose from the hip bone.
Just how potent is the Oilers’ run-and-shoot offense? Well, it’s No. 1 in the league, averaging 375 yards a game. And then there’s the plight of punter Greg Montgomery.
Montgomery is averaging 45.8 yards a punt, best in the NFL, but he hasn’t punted often enough to qualify as league leader. He has punted 19 times in eight games, short of the required 2.5 per-game average.
There were 12,108 tickets remaining for Sunday’s game Thursday at 1 p.m., so the game will be blacked out locally.
