A Simi Valley man was arrested after taking his 21-year-old stepdaughter hostage, police said Tuesday.
Robert Allen Long, 45, was being held in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and taking a hostage. Bail was set at $50,000, a jail spokesman said.
The woman’s mother called police at 10:06 p.m. Monday, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Fred James said.
The mother told police that her daughter said her stepfather was intoxicated and possibly suicidal, James said.
She told her mother that he was holding a handgun inside their house in the 4100 block of Eileen Street, James said.
The daughter left the house at 11 p.m. and was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital where she was treated for abdominal and back pain suffered when she was thrown against a wall, James said.
