Soviet cyclist Alexander Khromykh set a world indoor record in the 500-meter sprint, clocking 27.662 seconds at the Sovetskaya Torgovlya International competition in Moscow.
The previous record of 27.745 was set by another Soviet, Vladimir Strakhov, in 1987.
