ROUNDUP : Dameworth Record Takes a Beating in Frontier League Meet

George Barajas of Fillmore High shattered former Agoura standout Bryan Dameworth’s course record at Soule Park in Ojai en route to a 16-second victory over Eric Renger of Calabasas in a Frontier League cross-country meet Tuesday.
Barajas, who won in 15 minutes 37 seconds, and Renger both bettered Dameworth’s 1989 record of 16:19.
Victor Hernandez of Fillmore was third and the Flashes, ranked first in the Southern Section Division IV coaches’ poll, placed five runners among the top 10 to win the team competition with 28 points.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Santa Monica, 15-2, 10-15, 15-7, 15-13--Carina Sailer and Marvette Williams each had 11 kills to lead unbeaten Pierce in a Western State Conference match at home. Amy Sodek had 27 assists and Lori Mertes had nine kills and five blocks for Pierce (11-0, 10-0 in WSC play).
Redlands d. Cal Lutheran, 15-7, 15-7, 13-15, 15-11--Jennifer Wiley and Kristine Wegner each had seven kills in CLU’s loss at home. The Regals dropped to 0-9; Redlands is 10-9.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Harvard 20, St. Francis 2--Ron Scott, Andrew Jablon and Ryan Salceda each scored three goals for host Harvard (16-5, 4-0) in a San Fernando Valley League match. Goalie Antonio Gomez had 11 saves.
Royal 16, Newbury Park 5--Chad Hood and Jack Kocur each scored four goals to pace Royal (14-3, 5-0) to its 46th consecutive Marmonte League victory in a match at Rancho Simi Pool in Simi Valley.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Thousand Oaks d. Westlake, 15-7, 15-6, 15-3--Amy Stone had 14 kills and Erikka Gulbranson added 12 to lead Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League match at Westlake High. Jennifer Streltzoff had 34 assists and eight digs for Thousand Oaks (12-1, 9-0).
Royal d. Camarillo, 15-6, 15-5, 15-3--Jennifer Hamilton had nine kills and four kill blocks and teammate Chantel Loo had 17 service points in a Marmonte League win for host Royal (10-1, 1-1).
Notre Dame d. St. Paul, 15-5,1 5-4, 15-11--Mary Strong and Phyliss Francis each had seven kills for visiting Notre Dame (9-2, 5-0) in a Mission League match.
Moorpark d. La Reina, 15-13, 15-2, 7-15, 15-2--Courtney Forman had 13 kills for Moorpark (9-0, 5-0) in Tri-Valley league match at La Reina (10-1, 4-1).
Chatsworth d. Cleveland 15-5, 15-4, 15-5--Marcia Gekhtman had eight kills and Lisa Koven and Jody Paperno each had seven for Chatsworth (8-0, 4-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at home.
Burroughs d. Hart, 15-4, 15-4, 15-8--Jennifer Wagner had 16 kills and Carmen Gutierrez added eight to help the Indians (12-1, 5-0) defeat Hart in a Foothill League match at Burroughs.
