NAY: Should girls be allowed on boys’ teams in high school? (C1). . . . You’d expect a yes vote from Eric Hansen, tennis coach at Savanna High in Anaheim, whose top player is nationally ranked Cindy Kuragami. “She beats my best boy--she beats me --6-0. She could play for most boys’ teams in the Southland.” . . . But Hansen votes no on mixed-gender teams: “It’s not chauvinism. It’s that it doesn’t work the other way. Girls can compete on boys’ teams, but if you let boys onto girls’ teams, it will wipe out girls’ athletics.”
