A motorist led police on a 20-mile midday chase through several San Diego neighborhoods Monday before he finally lost control of his pickup in the Mission Gorge area, police said.
Richard J. Benoncourt, 35, of San Diego was arrested after he bolted from his stalled vehicle in the 4600 block of Zion Avenue, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The chase began shortly after 11 a.m., Robinson said, when officers attempted to stop the pickup because it had run a red light.
The chase ended, Robinson said, when the car stalled and the driver fled the pickup and was caught by two pursuing officers.
He was to be charged with evading police and numerous traffic violations, Robinson said.
