COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Cruises in Soccer, 12-0

Andy Strouse and Marco Vasquez scored three goals each as Orange Coast College drilled San Bernardino Valley, 12-0, Friday in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match at OCC.

Alex Vasquez, Cesar Ovando, Darin Courter, Kevin Villar, Pat Callaghan, and Manop Phinouwong had one each for OCC, which led, 7-0, at the half. OCC is 7-5-1, and 4-1-1 in conference.

In other Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Rancho Santiago 2, Cypress 0--Jose Vasquez and Ron Murrietta each scored in the first half for first-place Rancho Santiago (11-1-1, 6-0) at Cypress (5-4-2, 3-2-1). Lee Milton had 10 saves for Cypress.

Irvine Valley 4, Fullerton 2--Piero Mendiola scored three goals and Greg Daman scored the other goal for host Irvine Valley (9-1-4, 2-1-3). Gaspar Gutierrez scored both goals for Fullerton (4-8-2, 2-3-1).

Golden West 3, Riverside 2--Brian Berkemer scored two goals and Kifah Khodr another as host Golden West (4-7-2, 1-3-2) won its first conference game. Riverside is 2-10-5, 0-5-1.

In South Coast Conference water polo:

Golden West 20, Pasadena 9--Carlos Fernandez and Dave Johnson each scored three goals to lead host Golden West (14-2, 2-0).

In Orange Empire Conference water polo:

Cypress 14, Saddleback 10--Dave Cameron had five goals to lead visiting Cypress (13-8 overall, 3-6 in conference play). Omar Ward scored four goals for Saddleback (6-12, 2-5).
