Birmingham High scored 29 unanswered points to come back from a 15-point deficit and hand North Hollywood a 35-23 defeat in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game Friday night at North Hollywood.
Birmingham quarterback Vince Lampkin completed eight of 19 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 56 yards in 16 carries and scored twice.
North Hollywood (2-2, 1-1 in league play) scored on its first possession when Krikor Kerkonian raced 30 yards for a touchdown. He later intercepted a Lampkin pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown to give North Hollywood a 21-6 lead midway through the second quarter.
Birmingham (3-1, 2-0) tied the score, 21-21, midway through the third period when Lampkin scored on a three-yard run to cap an eight-play, 66-yard drive.
North Hollywood’s Leon Gable rushed for 142 yards in 29 carries but did not score a touchdown.
