SIDELINES : Muster Upset in French Tennis

BORDEAUX, France — Tomas Nydahl of Sweden eliminated top seed Thomas Muster of Austria, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, today in the second round of the Bordeaux men’s tournament.
Fourth-seeded Frenchman Guy Forget also advanced to the quarterfinals, but pulled out of the tournament after learning his father had died earlier in the day.
Forget ousted Carlos Costa of Spain, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
With the Frenchman’s withdrawal, Lawson Duncan of the United States moved directly into the semifinals after eliminating Argentine’s Marcelo Ingaramo, 6-3, 6-2.
