Texas Instruments Royalties Request Reported: Texas Instruments has asked Japanese semiconductor makers to pay royalties of 10% of production value based on the U.S. firm’s basic patent for dynamic random access memories (DRAMs), according to an article in Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper. Such payments would cost Japanese industry about $750 million a year, the paper said, adding that the demand would apply to Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, Oki Electric, Sharp and others.
