San Diego undercover narcotics detectives arrested 27 illegal aliens and held them in County Jail last week on suspicion of drug offenses, a police spokesman said.
The arrests were made during a “buy-bust operation,” in which a drug buy is arranged and, when the goods change hands, the seller is arrested, San Diego Police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Detectives from the police Narcotics Street Team spent eight hours a day Thursday and Friday making the arrests in Logan Heights and downtown, Robinson said.
In the arrests, $1,044 in cash was seized, along with 2.39 grams of rock cocaine, half a gram of powder cocaine, .8 grams of tar heroin, 54.39 grams of marijuana, .9 grams of methamphetamines and two tablets of LSD, Robinson said.
He said all 27 people were booked into the jail on suspicion of possessing narcotics and possessing narcotics for sale.
