Two Banks to Aid Reservists: Those called to active military service due to the Persian Gulf crisis won’t have to make consumer loan payments to Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bank of California and Wells Fargo Bank of San Francisco until they return to civilian life, officials of both banks said. The banks will defer principal and interest payments on all consumer loans--including home mortgages, auto, credit card and student loans and lines of credit--for reservists on active military duty.
