P.M. BRIEFING : Hyatt ‘Bug’ Given a Face Lift

CHICAGO — The Hyatt Corp. announced today it is replacing the 19-year-old logo for its hotels and resorts with an updated symbol designed to project a more stylish image.
The new rectangular-shaped logo features the word Hyatt, written in stylized white letters on a deep blue background. A slim red crescent drawn through the letter “A” “symbolizes the sunrise-to-sunset experience of the Hyatt guest,” Chicago-based Hyatt said in a statement.
A grey border beneath the main part of the logo features the words “Hotels & Resorts” in white block letters.
The old logo, dubbed “the bug” by many employees, featured a white and black four-leaf clover shape inside a circle and contained no words identifying it with Hyatt.
The new logo will be used for hotels and resorts affiliated with Hyatt Hotels Corp., a subsidiary that operates facilities in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean; and for those run elsewhere in the world by sister subsidiary Hyatt International.
The new logo will begin appearing next month in national and international advertising.
