DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. said today it will idle its Mustang plant in Dearborn, Mich., for an additional week starting Monday, this time because of a shortage of engine parts.
The plant, which employs 2,100 hourly workers who build about 3,700 Mustangs a week, was already idled this week because of a shortage of dealer orders. It will be closed next week because of a lack of four-cylinder engine parts, a company spokeswoman said.
Earlier this week, Ford said it will idle car plants in Atlanta and Kansas City, Mo., the next week because of a shortage of dealer orders, affecting 4,800 workers combined.
