Hotel Faces 134 Safety Charges for LAX Shuttle

The Los Angeles city attorney’s office charged the owner of the Viscount Hotel near Los Angeles International Airport with 134 counts of safety violations Tuesday in the operation of shuttles between the hotel and the airport.
The allegations, naming Trusthouse Forty Inc. in Los Angeles Municipal Court, stemmed from four California Highway Patrol safety checks since last August, said City Atty. James Hahn.
The CHP noted what it rated as “imminently” hazardous mechanical defects, permanently closed exit windows, loosely bolted passenger seats, broken lights and defective exhaust systems, brakes, tires and windshield wipers.
The assistant manager of the Viscount, Steve Whittle, said he had not been informed of any violations and had no comment.
