LAS VEGAS — Torrential overnight rains flooded miles of washes that crisscross Las Vegas streets, killing one woman, upending more than 30 cars and causing heavy damage.
The nearly nude body of Rose Worcester, 24, of Las Vegas was found this morning as more than 800 workers at the Imperial Palace were cleaning the flood control channel beneath the hotel and casino, built on stilts because of the wash, said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Randy Oaks.
The woman’s car was found in the channel at Harmon Avenue and Valley View Boulevard. She was wearing only panty hose when she was found and authorities believed the force of the water tore her clothing off, Oaks said.
The National Weather Service said up to two inches of rain fell in some parts of the Las Vegas Valley early this morning.
