CHINESE DRUGS: A Chinese official says one reason his government gave Fluor Daniel a multimillion-dollar project to help build two pharmaceutical plants in China (D5) was to learn “good manufacturing practices” from the United States. . . . While patients in China now have access to Western treatment and medicine, millions still prefer traditional Chinese care. A drawback: Medicine made from roots, herbs and animals looks unpleasant and can taste terrible.
