Whittier : 30 Protest Ending of Speech Pathology Program

At the Whittier College graduation Sunday, more than 30 students, parents and patients staged a peaceful, informational protest to call attention to the proposed shutdown of the graduate program in speech pathology and audiology.
The college has tentatively decided not to accept entering graduate students for next year, as it re-evaluates the program. A recent memo from Robert Marks, the dean of faculty, stated that stricter accreditation requirements, soon to be in force, would prove too costly for the school in light of other budget priorities and faculty recruitment needs.
