Pianist Sonya Kumiki Lee, 15, of Laguna Hills, has won the $500 Long Beach Philharmonic Juniors third place award in the 1990 Bronsilaw Kaper Award for Young Artists competition, sponsored by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. A ninth-grader at St. Margaret’s School in San Juan Capistrano, Lee won for playing Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto.
