GOLF ROUNDUP : Rudolph Leads the Way Into 79th State Amateur With a 67

Harry Rudolph III of La Jolla became Southern California’s top qualifier for next month’s 79th California Amateur golf championship by scoring a seven-under-par 67 Wednesday on the par-74 south course of the Los Serranos Country Club in Chino.
Rudolph, who plays for Oklahoma State, turned in an opening-round 65 Tuesday on the par-71 north course and swept to a seven-stroke margin over runner-up Paul Holtby of Simi Valley.
Craig Anderson of Fallbrook was the No. 3 qualifier, followed by Trevor Jones of Pasadena, Alan Drobka of Newport Beach, Bob Imlay of San Diego, Sandy Galbraith of Fountain Valley, Dave Berganio Jr. of Sylmar, Chris Anderson of West Covina and Mike Bestor of Laguna Niguel.
The state amateur championship will be played June 25-29 at three courses on the Monterey Peninsula, with the final to be played at Pebble Beach.
