News Corp.: The Australia-based media and entertainment concern reported a first-quarter loss of $24 million, contrasted with a profit of $27.4 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue rose to $1.7 billion from $1.6 billion. The company said the loss reflected costs associated with establishing its Sky Television satellite network in Europe and the impact of an Australian pilots strike.
