Man Acquitted in Palme Murder to Get $50,000

STOCKHOLM — Christer Pettersson, acquitted of the 1986 assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, will be awarded $50,000 damages from the state, Atty. Gen. Hans Stark ruled Wednesday.
The money is compensation for the time, from December, 1988, to November, 1989, that Pettersson was held in police custody as a suspect in the slaying, he told reporters.
