Vice President Dan Quayle arrived in San Diego on Thursday afternoon for meetings with Republican Party officials.
Quayle arrived at Miramar Naval Air Station and went by motorcade to the Sheraton Grand Hotel at Torrey Pines, where he spent the night and met with various chapters of the National Republican Committee.
The meetings, which were scheduled to conclude today, were closed to the press and public.
This morning, Quayle was to hold a round-table discussion with reporters, and then play host at a lunch in La Jolla with Republican financial contributors.
A staff spokesman said the Vice President would probably play golf in the afternoon.
