Investors to Solicit Pic ‘N’ Save Proxies: An investment group led by David H. Batchelder, a La Jolla corporate raider, disclosed plans in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing to solicit proxies to gain a majority on the board of Pic ‘N’ Save. The proxy vote would take place at Pic ‘N’ Save’s next annual meeting, which has not been scheduled. Batchelder’s group, known as Girard Partners, disclosed last week that it acquired 6.6% of the Dominguez retailer’s stock and would seek to set up a new five-member board dominated by Girard. Pic ‘N’ Save officials have declined to comment.
