NAMES IN THE NEWS : Billy Idol Faces 5th Leg Surgery

Rock singer Billy Idol will undergo another surgery this week on a leg injured in a motorcycle crash, his publicist said today.

Idol, 34, will enter Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday for what will be the fifth operation on his right leg, spokeswoman Ellen Golden said.

“They’re going to insert a steel rod in his right leg, which has not been healing properly,” she said.

The rock star broke the leg and an arm Feb. 6 when he went through a stop sign on a Hollywood street and hit a car. He was heading home after completing work on a new album, “Charmed Life.”
