DES PLAINES, Ill. — Two schoolteachers have been disciplined for exhibiting poor judgment in showing the R-rated movie “A Boy and His Dog” to their fourth- and fifth-grade classes.
The movie, which includes scenes of violence and nudity, is a black comedy based on a short novel by Harlan Ellison. Under the motion picture industry’s rating system, youngsters under age 17 should not be permitted to view an R-rated film.
The teachers said they ran the tape--which was marked PG on the box--as a reward for good class work.
