Palombi Leads Bowling Event

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Ron Palombi Jr., who won last week’s U.S. Open bowling title, averaged 225 Wednesday night to take the lead after the second round of the Showboat Open.
Palombi knocked down 2,705 pins over 12 games to take a four-pin lead over Tom Adcock of Maroa, Ill.
First-round leader Purvis Granger of Columbus, Ohio, held onto third place with a pinfall of 2,693 and Jim Pencak of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, remained in fourth with 2,681.
