SHORT TAKES : ‘Today’ Mexico Visit Cancelled

The “Today” show, has canceled plans to air shows live from Mexico the week of May 7. Logistic and satellite availability problems in connection with a visit to Mexico by Pope John Paul II is the stated reason. Another out-of-town trip--somewhere in the United States--will be announced to replace the proposed trip to Mexico, but no dates have been set.
In another “Today” schedule change, former President Richard M. Nixon has postponed his scheduled four-part interview with “Today” host Bryant Gumbel until the week of April 30 because of illness.
