Former First Lady Nancy Reagan will visit Jordan Elementary School on April 26 to launch national “Just Say No” week.
She will also be honoring the school’s anti-drug club, which was chosen as Orange County’s “highlighted” club for 1990.
Nancy Reagan will speak at a short assembly for the school’s 450 students, as well as talk privately to 50 members of the “Just Say No” club, said school Principal Forrest Shattuck. Club members are in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, he said.
Shattuck said that the school’s club was honored for organizing a variety of rallies, seminars and guest speakers to discourage drug use among schoolchildren.
This visit will mark the first time that Nancy Reagan has visited Orange County on behalf of “Just Say No” International, of which she is the national honorary chairwoman. “Just Say No” week is May 6 through 12.
