A 30-year veteran of the Los Angeles Community College District was named president Wednesday of Los Angeles City College, the oldest and most ethnically diverse of Los Angeles’ nine community colleges.
Edwin A. Young, 60, of Granada Hills, was selected by the district Board of Trustees after serving as interim president since September. He had taught at the campus from 1959 to 1976 and also served as a vice president at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys and as dean of students at Los Angeles Pierce College in Woodland Hills.
Young succeeds Stelle Feuers, who had held the post for 11 years before she became an assistant to District Chancellor Donald Phelps.
