A 28-year-old man was undergoing psychiatric evaluation Sunday after police talked him out of jumping from the roof of a 17-story hotel Saturday night.
The man, whose name was withheld by police, was transported to an undisclosed mental health facility for evaluation after threatening to jump from atop the Hyatt Regency Alicante at Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods said.
Hotel employees notified police at 7:51 p.m. Saturday that the man had climbed onto the roof of the hotel and was threatening to jump, Woods said. Police responding to the scene found the man on the edge of the roof, and called in a police negotiating team to help talk him down, Wood said.
