Australians wanting to cash in on the Asian business boom should offer more gifts and remember the names of contacts’ relatives, a private paper advises.
“Success depends on contacts before contracts,” said the paper, published by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and the Westpac Banking Corp. It advised executives “to cultivate relationships with appropriate gifts and to recall names of the families of their business associates. These are common courtesies throughout most of Asia.
“Many Australian companies are leaving untouched the growing business opportunities in Asia,” the paper said.
