First Interstate Selling Unit: The Los Angeles-based banking firm, which has been selling assets that do not fit in with its basic banking business, said it has put up for sale Nova Financial Services, its consumer finance subsidiary. Nova, based in San Diego, is involved in such businesses as making home equity loans and extending lines of credit to consumers through 71 offices in California, Colorado and Hawaii. Nova has loans outstanding of nearly $420 million and about 360 employees.
