T. Roland Berner, 80, chairman and president of the Curtiss-Wright Corp., the diversified conglomerate that manufactures aerospace components. He took over Curtiss-Wright in the late 1950s but years before--when the firm still made primarily aircraft engines--he had led a group of stockholders trying to oust management. During his 30-year tenure as chairman and president, he led a highly publicized, unsuccessful battle to take over the Kennecott Copper Corp. In Boston on Sunday of a heart attack.
