NEW YORK — An actress on the TV soap opera “All My Children” was arrested for allegedly using a stolen credit card, police said.
The 20-year-old actress, Tichina Arnold, plays the character Sharla Valentine on the ABC show.
Arnold was arrested Tuesday night at an A&S; department store in the New York City borough of Queens after she charged perfume, cosmetics and a typewriter to a stolen American Express card, authorities said.
She told police she paid a stranger $25 for the card, said Richard Piperno, spokesman for Queens Dist. Atty. John Santucci.
A spokeswoman for the show was surprised to hear of Arnold’s arrest.
“How strange. My goodness. I’m shocked,” spokeswoman Alice Serrano told the New York Post. “She’s a lovely young girl, very articulate and very talented. I don’t know anything about this.”
