McDonnell Douglas-West Personnel Community Service has awarded $20,000 to Orangewood Children’s Foundation to provide grants and scholarships for former Orangewood children.
The money will go to the Children’s Trust Fund, established for young people released from Orangewood or foster homes at age 18.
The fund provides a maximum of $1,000 for college and vocational school, tuition, books, supplies, housing, medical expenses and other needs identified by the foundation’s board of directors.
More than 400 young people have received financial assistance through the fund since its inception in 1987.
Orangewood Children’s Home cares for nearly 3,000 children each year who are victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation or abandonment.
