Mater Dei Heads Tournament Field

Defending champion Mater Dei High School is among the 16 teams entered in the Newport-Tustin baseball tournament scheduled to begin today.

The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday ) at Tustin High. The first-round pairings, with all games beginning at 3 p.m.:

Esperanza at Tustin; Saddleback at Orange; Santa Ana Valley at Corona del Mar; Capistrano Valley at Foothill; Mater Dei JV at Santa Ana; Mission Viejo at Estancia; Costa Mesa at Newport Harbor; El Modena at Mater Dei.
