American International Group Inc.: The New York insurance and financial services company said net income for 1989 totaled $1.37 billion, up 13% from 1988. Revenue rose 10% to $14.2 billion. The company credited increased sales from its foreign general and life insurance businesses. Insured catastrophic losses for the year quadrupled over 1988, with Hurricane Hugo accounting for nearly $50 million and the Bay Area Quake and winter freeze losses in the Southeast costing about $35 million.
