Ghost No More?: South Coast Village--nicknamed “South Ghost Village” by some because of the long list of merchants who have left--may finally be close to filling the near-empty Mercantile Building.
The building used to house 20 small speciality shops but has been nearly vacant for the past several years. Recently, the village “went down the road a long way with a retailer” interested in leasing the large, wooden structure.
While the deal fell through, South Coast Plaza General Manager Jim Henwood said that several specialty retailers currently are interesting in leasing space in the building.
