Newport Harbor 70, Laguna Hills 45--Newport Harbor (19-7) broke the game open in the third quarter by making nine of 12 field goals and took a 50-30 lead.
Laguna Hills (9-15) had trouble penetrating the Newport Harbor zone and made only 33% (16 of 48) of its field goals. Newport shot 57% (27 of 47) from the field.
Guards Eddie Martinez and Craig DeBusk scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, and second-string center Erik Freeman added 11, shooting five for five for the Sailors.
Laguna Hills was led by Al Saldana with 17 points.
