HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : McNaull: 12 Blocks, 32 Rebounds

Joe McNaull put his name in the section record book twice with his performance in Monte Vista’s 87-63 Grossmont 3-A victory over Granite Hills Thursday night.
His 12 blocked shots in the game bettered the listed section record of seven held by Lincoln’s Darryl McMillan. And his 32 rebounds tied him with Bill Walton for No. 6 on the single-game list.
McNaull, 6-feet-10 1/2 and 205 pounds, also scored 30 points. Jeff Polinsky added 26 points for Monte Vista (13-5, 5-0).
Scott Goergens led Granite Hills (6-14, 2-2) with 27 points.
Grossmont 2-A
Valhalla 91, Grossmont 60--Valhalla would have to lose its next three games and Grossmont win its next three for Valhalla to fail to claim its second consecutive league title. Valhalla (16-8, 5-0), which has defeated Grossmont (10-9, 3-2) twice this season, won its 11th consecutive league game.
Tony Lee led the Norsemen with a game-high 31 points and had seven assists. Jaered Larson and Kevin Simon both scored 17 points for Grossmont.
Citrus League
Calvin Christian 55, Borrego Springs 49--Mike Carter (20 points) and Ruben Bons (14) combined to lead host Calvin Christian (8-6 3-2). Carter added 11 rebounds. For Borrego Springs (8-7, 4-1), Gary Vasquez scored 23 points.
Girls
Palomar League
Torrey Pines 60, Orange Glen 41--Karyn Armstrong had 13 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five steals to lead Torrey Pines (12-8, 5-5). Teammate Daphne Brownson led all scorers with 14 points and also had seven steals.
