A 10-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns to his legs after he set fire to a bed while playing with a lighter.
At 1:29 p.m. Wednesday, three children were playing with a lighter in the ground-level apartment in the 500 block of 20th Street in Golden Hill, San Diego firefighter Larry Stewart said. The children tried to put the fire out, but when it became uncontrollable, they ran across the street to get help.
It took 30 firefighters 25 minutes to bring the fire under control. The Fire Department estimated damage at $45,000.
