VALLEY ROUNDUP : Royals Falls to Thousand Oaks in 73-67 Upset

Thousand Oaks High’s Chris Loll scored 16 points and the Lancers used clutch free throw shooting Monday night to upset first-place Royal, 73-67, in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.
Chris Sandlin scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Thousand Oaks (9-10, 4-4), which hit 23 of 36 free throws. Scott Peterson and Tony Siegel each scored 11 and Loll hit seven consecutive free throws down the stretch. Royal (18-5, 7-2), which leads Simi Valley and Westlake by one-half game, pulled within one at 61-60 with four minutes left, but Peterson hit a layup and jumper to extend the Lancers’ lead to 65-60.
Russell Myers scored 17 points for Royal.
In other boys’ games:
Westlake 66, Newbury Park 46--John Van Spyk scored 15 points and Dave Meriage had 10 points and seven rebounds for host Westlake (12-7, 6-2) in a Marmonte League game. B.J. Sena had 14 points for Westlake.
Camarillo 95, Channel Islands 53--David Harbour had 35 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals in three quarters to lead host Camarillo (14-7, 5-4) to the Marmonte League win. Rick Schnell had 20 points and four steals and Leonard Lopez added 10 points for Camarillo.
Crespi 63, St. John Bosco 61--Christian Fauria made two free throws with five seconds remaining to give Crespi the Del Rey League win. Fauria scored a team-high 19 points and had 15 rebounds.
Highland Hall 75, West L.A. Baptist 28--Craig Ernst and Robert Ramirez each scored 18 points for Highland Hall (16-2, 10-0) in a Westside League game at West L.A. Baptist (1-13, 0-10).
Faith Baptist 77, Camp Kilpatrick 64--Alex Estrada had 29 points and 10 assists for host Faith Baptist (11-9) in a nonleague game.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Alemany 58, Bell-Jeff 48--Rachel Corelli scored 14 points and was eight of 11 from the free-throw line for host Alemany (15-6, 7-0) in a San Fernando Valley League game. The score was tied, 46-46, with 3:46 left but Alemany closed with a 12-2 run.
Notre Dame 37, Louisville 23--Luisa Parra scored 12 points and Julie Nelson had 16 rebounds for host Notre Dame (9-8, 6-1) in a San Fernando Valley League game.
Mary Hudson scored 12 points for Louisville (6-12, 1-6).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Alaska Pacific 72, The Master’s 64--Stacy Ford had 19 points and six assists and both Sandy Cumming and Christy Barfoot had 10 points for The Master’s (3-25). BOYS’ SOCCER
Hart 2, Pasadena 1--Senior forward David Rosales scored twice to lead Hart (13-1-3, 7-1-3) in a Foothill League match at Pasadena. Goalkeeper Jim Basler recorded five saves for Hart, which outshot Pasadena, 19-7.
Burroughs 3, Schurr 0--Forwards Enrique Mendoza and Jeff Gierok each scored a goal and added an assist for host Burroughs in a Foothill League match.
Eddie Gavilan scored off Sean O’Connor’s free kick to give Burroughs (9-5-3, 6-3-3) a 2-0 lead at halftime. Schurr is 3-7-5, 2-5-4.
Simi Valley 7, Thousand Oaks 1--Seven players scored for Simi Valley (22-1-0, 0-8-1) in a Marmonte League match. Craig Hampton had a goal and two assists and Hans Madsen had two assists for Simi Valley.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Louisville 2, Notre Dame 1--Sonia Freeman, a sweeper, scored both goals and Ashley Wire recorded six saves to lead Louisville (10-5-2, 4-1-1) in a San Fernando Valley League match at Notre Dame.
Alemany 2, Crossroads 0--Alemany outshot Crossroads, 25-2, and forward Susie Corelli had a goal and assist to lead host Alemany (11-5-2, 5-0) in a San Fernando Valley League match.
Royal 2, Newbury Park 0--Staci Blough scored two goals, including her 14th of the season, and goalkeeper Carolyn Rahn made five saves for host Royal (15-4-1, 4-2-1) in a Marmonte League match at Moorpark College.
