NATION : Promotion Due Official on Aging

WASHINGTON — President Bush said today he will nominate Joyce T. Berry, the acting commissioner on aging, to permanent appointment to the post.
Berry is a career federal worker who has been a top official of the Administration on Aging since 1980 and acting commissioner since last year following the departure of Carol Fraser Fisk.
Berry, 42, is a graduate of Howard University with a Ph.D. from Fordham University and a law degree from Georgetown.
The Administration on Aging is a branch of the Department of Health and Human Services. It administers social service programs for the elderly.
