A four-alarm fire raged at the Carmel Highland Country Club Monday night, San Diego Fire Department officials said.
The blaze started at the club, in the 14000 block of Penasquitos Drive, about 8:15 p.m. As they worked to contain the flames, authorities closed the roads at Penasquitos Drive and Carmel Mountain Road.
More than 80 members of the Fire Department were called in to battle the fire, which reached the club’s roof. Authorities were unable to determine how the blaze began or the extent of the damage late Monday night.
