McCartney May Play Homeless Benefits: The deal isn’t final yet, but Berkeley city officials say plans are in the works for Paul McCartney to headline two rock concerts for the homeless tentatively set for March 31 and April 1 at 90,000-capacity Memorial Stadium on the campus of UC Berkeley. Although a spokeswoman for Bill Graham Presents, the concert promotion company handling McCartney’s upcoming appearances in the area, was unaware of negotiations for the concert, Berkeley Mayor Loni Hancock, City Manager Michael Brown and UC spokesman Ray Colvig all said Graham has made the offer. The city has been promised at least $100,000 of the proceeds to help the homeless.
