A Portland Trail Blazer official says he expects Soviet star Arvidas Sabonis to begin his NBA career next season.
Bucky Buckwalter, vice president of basketball operations for the Trail Blazers, commented after he returned from a five-day visit to Spain, where he visited the 7-foot-3 center.
Sabonis, who was picked by Portland in the first round of the 1986 NBA draft, has been playing this season for a team in the Spanish professional league.
