Long-Lost SAG Charter Returned: Creative Artists Agency president Michael Ovitz will join in a ceremony with Screen Actors Guild president Barry Gordon Thursday to return to SAG the long-lost original charter issued to it in 1935 by the American Federation of Labor. The hand-lettered document disappeared from guild headquarters in Hollywood in the mid-1970s and last year CAA acquired the document from a local rare-book store. After establishing its authenticity, CAA restored the charter and framed it. Ovitz then offered to give the document back to the guild. The renovated charter will be returned to its original place: on the wall of the James Cagney Board Room.
